Acura lease transfer FAQs

Can I transfer my Acura lease to someone else?

No. American Honda Finance Corporation, which services Acura Financial Services leases, does not permit open-market lease transfers in the United States. The lease remains in your name until you complete the term, buy the vehicle, or arrange an early termination directly with Honda.

What are my options for getting out of an Acura lease early?

Three realistic paths: (1) trade the vehicle in to an Acura dealer who pays off the residual to Honda, (2) sell the vehicle privately to a buyer who pays off the lease via a third-party buyout, or (3) contact Acura Financial Services about early termination fees, which are typically substantial.

Will Honda make an exception for a family member?

Honda generally does not offer family-member assumptions in the U.S. market. Contact Acura Financial Services directly to confirm your specific contract; Honda Canada has a different program.

Why doesn't Honda allow Acura lease transfers in the U.S.?

It's a Honda corporate policy decision that has been consistent for years. Honda's Canadian arm does permit assumptions with a fee, but the U.S. captive bank does not.
