Can I transfer my Genesis lease to another driver?
No. Genesis Finance (Hyundai Capital America) does not permit open-market lease assumptions in the U.S. The lease remains in your name until you complete the term, buy out the vehicle, or arrange an early termination.
What are my options for getting out of a Genesis lease early?
(1) Trade the car in to a Genesis dealer who pays off the residual, (2) sell privately to a buyer who pays off Hyundai Capital America directly (third-party buyout), or (3) contact Genesis Finance about early termination, typically with substantial fees.
Is this the same for Hyundai and Kia?
Yes — Hyundai Motor Finance, Kia Finance America, and Genesis Finance all operate under Hyundai Capital America and share the same no-transfer policy in the U.S.
