Can I transfer my Honda lease to another driver?
No. Honda Financial Services does not permit open-market lease transfers in the United States. The lease remains in your name through the end of the term.
What are my options for getting out of a Honda lease early?
(1) Trade in at a Honda dealer who pays off the residual to Honda Financial Services, (2) sell privately to a buyer who pays off Honda directly (third-party buyout), or (3) contact Honda Financial about early termination, typically with substantial fees.
Does Honda make exceptions for family members?
Honda generally does not offer family-member assumptions in the U.S. market. Contact Honda Financial Services directly if your situation involves a death in the family or other extenuating circumstances.
Why doesn't Honda allow transfers in the U.S.?
It's a Honda corporate policy that has been consistent for years. Honda's Canadian arm does run a transfer program (around $799 fee), but the U.S. captive bank does not.
