Mercedes-Benz lease transfer FAQs

Does Mercedes-Benz allow lease transfers in 2026?

Generally no. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services suspended its open-market lease transfer program on July 1, 2020. Limited exceptions exist for leases originating in Connecticut and cases involving the death of the original lessee.

How do I know if my Mercedes-Benz lease qualifies for an exception?

Call the Mercedes-Benz Financial Client Care Center at 800-654-6222 to ask whether your specific lease qualifies.

What are my options if my lease doesn't qualify?

(1) Trade in at a Mercedes-Benz dealer who pays off the residual, (2) third-party buyout — a private buyer pays off MBFS directly, or (3) contact MBFS about early termination through their First Class Finish lease-end program.

Why did MBFS suspend the transfer program?

MBFS has not publicly explained the reasoning. The suspension was effective July 1, 2020 and has remained in place since.
