Nissan lease transfer FAQs

Does Nissan allow lease transfers?

Yes. NMAC permits lease assumptions throughout the term except in the final 7 months.

What's the Nissan lease transfer fee?

$0. NMAC waives the transfer fee entirely. The fee is also waived if you replace the vehicle with a new Nissan or Infiniti within 30 days.

Am I fully released from the Nissan lease after transfer?

NO — this is critical to understand. NMAC does not issue a full release of liability. The original lessee remains on the lease as a guarantor for the duration of the term. If the new driver defaults or returns the car damaged, NMAC can pursue the original lessee for any unpaid balance or charges.

Should I still transfer my Nissan lease given the guarantor risk?

It depends on how confident you are in the buyer. Vet them carefully: ask for proof of credit score, employment, and any references. If they default 18 months in, you're on the hook for the remainder. The no-fee transfer is generous, but the guarantor exposure is real.

When can I NOT transfer my Nissan lease?

Not in the final 7 months of the lease.
